Khatti Meethi Khichadi using Farmside Superior Indrayani Rice

Recipe- Soak for 1/2 an hour- 1/2 cup of yellow moong dal with 1 cup of Farmside Indrayani Rice. Heat 2 tbsp oil of your choice directly in a small cooker. Make a tadka of 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp fenugreek seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, a few curry leaves, 2 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp grated ginger, 1 tsp grated garlic, 1 large tomato chopped, 1 medium onion chopped, a pinch of hing powder. Soak a lemon-sized ball of tamarind in 1/2 cup of hot water. After 15 mins sieve it and keep the pulp ready. Now add the rice and dal, tamarind pulp and 2 tbsp of jaggery powder (I forgot to film this part, sorry!) and salt to taste. Add 3 cups of water, mix well and close the lid. Switch off the gas after two whistles. In another small kadhai, heat 3 tbsp oil and make a garlic tadka with 8-10 cloves finely chopped garlic with 2-3 dry red chillies. Fry the garlic till it’s golden brown. Open the cooker lid, inhale the delicious aroma, transfer to a serving bowl, top with garlic tadka and chopped coriander leaves. Add a generous dollop of ghee and enjoyyy a lip-smacking Khatti Meethi Khichadi! 😃Serve it with pickle, papad, curd or chops of your choice. I served mine with brinjal chops!
