Many dwarf varieties are determined. Determined means that the plant reaches a certain size and shape, then bears fruit, the harvest time is usually about 10-20 days. After that, the plant is “ready” and dies. Some of the dwarf varieties are semi-determined or indeterminate, meaning they will continue to grow and produce until autumn/winter. Dwarves usually don`t need much staking or support at altitude. But they must be staked or supported on the width. The branches become heavy as the plant grows fruit and falls off without struggling.
In general, dwarf varieties do not need to be pruned. If the plant becomes too large, it can, of course, be cut a little. However, if you have the space, the advice is to let them grow! Many dwarf varieties are also suitable for growing in larger pots due to their compact growth.
