Level 4 Security Requirements

Level 4 Security Requirements

Impersonating a security guard is a Class A offence – click here to read this code. Please note that this is not an “operator course”, a sniper course and/or a paramilitary tactical course, nor do we try to play him or this school in this way. This is a “basic introduction to Bodyguard course” (as we like to call it) that provides a wealth of information for newcomers, including meeting state licensing requirements. We need to inform all students looking for an operator class, State Department or tactical operations training, S.W.A.T.T. and deployment courses that this is NOT the right course for you. Upon completion of Level IV training, students must seek approval from their personal protection officer from a licensed security company. If you are willing to be paid more than the average security guard, work at special events, behind the scenes, guard V.I.P. body and want to perform special protection details, estate security and protection of the rich and famous, then this is the course you need to attend. Level III training is required for all designated security and personal protection officers. SPECIAL NOTE: Regardless of what other Texas bodyguard schools and their instructors tell you, Texas DPS-RSD does not knowingly allow the Level 4 PPO bodyguard course to be taught online.

They removed “shall be given in class” only from the commission-free Lv-2 course and parts of the Lv3 commission course, but they did NOT remove this statement from the training requirements for the Lv4-PPO bodyguard course. Any training school that offers an exclusively online bodyguard course operates absolutely outside of Texas DPS-RSD training regulations and they know it; They just hope you don`t know and don`t ask questions. Yes, many students have taken an online bodyguard course and then submitted these certificates to the DPS-RSD, but when the DPS-RSD receives this certificate, they have no idea if you were actually sitting in a classroom or if you took the online course (this is how other schools get by). If they knew that your course was exclusively online, they would reject it and/or invalidate your Lv4 pocket card. More importantly, how would your clients feel if you knew that you completed your bodyguard training through a quick one-day online course and received your certificate via email? This is simply ridiculous, because the standards of the state are already low, which, in our opinion, is almost reckless in the execution of bodyguard work. Honestly, students looking for a $100.00 (one-day) online Power Point or bodyguard course, or choosing which school to attend by honestly choosing the lowest bidder, may not have the right attitude for this industry. This class is required by the State of Texas so that you can work as a personal protection officer (bodyguard/executive protection), which also allows you to work in civilian clothes and wear hidden during your service. Many states don`t allow security guards to do this, Texas does, and that`s the class you need to certify. Our course lasts 15 hours. This course was developed by Texas DPS-RSD to give the average occupational safety officer a brief exposure and a basic foundation in the bodyguard industry. To be a professional bodyguard, you need a lot of training and experience that goes far beyond the state course. This course is by no means intended to fully prepare you to work as a professional bodyguard after a few days, but it meets and exceeds state standards, provides you with the certificate to obtain your license, and gives you a foundation on which to build your knowledge and experience.

It will take more than a few days before you are deemed ready to protect a customer or for this industry as a whole by taking action. It`s up to you and your agency to build on the foundation provided and seek additional training and experience to become a top-notch professional in the industry. What to expect with TCTA: Please understand that TCTA not only meets, but exceeds Texas Department of Public Safety standards for this course. As the saying goes—”You can add, you just can`t take away” — this means that we can`t lower the demands of states, but we can absolutely raise them to achieve our school`s goal. This is not a “check the box” bodyguard class (as many other schools offer) while you sit down and watch a PowerPoint presentation and three videos and receive a certificate. TCTA requires physical activity, advanced pistols are required, hand-to-hand combat (unarmed defense) is required, force-versus-force scenarios, and classroom exercises with required participation – all of this should be expected in a true 101 bodyguard class. Although this course is only a few days long, it is packed with information and covers all the points that a $3,500.00 course covers (we know this because we took these courses). This class is required by the State of Texas so that you can work as a personal protection officer (bodyguard/executive protection), which also allows you to work in civilian clothes and wear hidden during your service. Many states don`t allow security guards to do this, Texas does, and that`s the class you need to certify. Our course lasts 20+ hours and includes classroom lessons, live fire exercises, unarmed defense, scenarios, strength drills and physical activities. Don`t waste your money attending a bodyguard class that doesn`t offer advanced range time, unarmed defense, physical exercises, or instructors who aren`t actively and currently performing bodyguard operations – it`s serious business, and most schools that try to deliver this course only through a Power Point don`t do you any favors, to you, your customer and this industry (most stick to one power).

Period, because honestly, we feel like they don`t know what they`re doing). The State of Texas makes it a criminal offense to perform safety-related work without a license. If you or your employer avoid using “safety” terminology, but perform the duties as a unit (e.g., event staff, bouncer, care worker, etc.); This includes bodyguards, law enforcement and church security. See the section at the bottom of the page. The Level III training course (minimum of 45 hours) and examination (including the fire course) are required for all* designated security and personal protective officers.
